Getting there

Flying:

Easyjet: Bristol, Gatwick, Luton, Liverpool and Stansted to Geneva (about 2½ hrs drive away) and now Grenoble (only 1½ hrs away): Great Easyjet service up to four times a day; the earlier you book the less it is, though flights go up in high season. Book online at: www.easyjet.com. Return flights can be as low as £50 p.p. if you book early enough.

Many airports now fly to Chambéry and provide a much closer airport than Geneva (1¼ hour drive), see www.thomsonfly.com or www.snowjet.co.uk. Lyon is about the same distance as Geneva from Courchevel (2½ hours) and can sometimes provide a cheap option.

London Heathrow to Lyon and Geneva: British Airways, www.britishairways.com, very competitive flight prices these days.

London Stansted to Lyon: from about £65 return: www.go-fly.com or phone 0870 60 76543.

Manchester to Chambery/Geneva: You can arrange flights to Geneva on Sundays, with coach transfer, for about £150 + £40 and www.jet2.com fly from Manchester/Bradford to Geneva aswell.

www.lastminute.com or www.kayak.co.uk can usually find a flight.

Car hire:

From around £160 per week - try alamo, hertz, avis or europcar or visit Rhino car hire to search for a good quote (contact us for 5% off). It is a short drive from some of the alpine airports and the roads are well maintained up into the resort. There is a good bus network once you are there so it is normally worth leaving your car in our garage. Remember you will need snow chains/tyres. If renting a car in Switzerland (e.g. Geneva airport) it will come equipped with snow tyres as this is compulsory by law.

Airport transfers:

From Geneva, Lyon, Grenoble & Chambery: call transfer intelligence for quality airport transfers for instant quotes & on-line booking.

By air from Geneva, Lyon or Chambéry to Courchevel altiport: saf-air courchevel - air transfers. call +33 479 08 00 91 - helicopter for 5 - €1400 (!)

Driving:

We have a secure, lockable garage (for cars under 1.85 metres only, but you can rent a garage space elsewhere for taller cars).

Calais to Courchevel is about 600 miles and Le Havre to Courchevel 500 miles (see www.mapblast.com or www.google.co.uk/maps for directions). It usually takes 8 hours from Calais, motorway all the way, but can be longer, depending on traffic.

You can even get 8 days skiing in by driving through the night: get up to Courchevel when the slopes open, ski all day & check in later in the day when the apartment becomes available; on the last day, pack your bags, check-out and go skiing for the day before departing for home.

You will need snow tyres or chains for resort-level driving. Going by motorway all the way, the tolls will come to around £100 return. Fuel can be more expensive than England when driving on motorways.

Train:

The eurostar ski train goes directly from Waterloo to Moutiers. The night train leaves at 2000 and arrives at 0600; and the day train leaves at 0900 and arrives at 1700.

Prices for a 2nd class saver return are about £150 night and £170 day; children 4-11 £110. Phone 0990 848 848. There is then only a 15 km bus or taxi journey to Courchevel 1650 from Moutiers. A taxi for 1 to 4 people is about €60. A bus is about €11. See www.alpes-savoie-taxis.com for bus information (or phone +33 (0)479242158 and +33 (0)479080117 - on weekends phone +33 (0)479242446).
